Transportation of an animal in an airplane
You need to inform the agent about the desire to bring animals with you when buying a ticket. Animals such as cats and dogs, as well as small domesticated animals and birds are accepted for transportation. Animals and birds are accepted for air transportation only upon prior agreement with the carrier.
To transport an animal, you must have a veterinary certificate and an import (or export) permit.
Don't be surprised if the agent asks you to measure the animal in three dimensions. Animals are transported only in the baggage compartment of the aircraft in a special container for the transport of animals, and transportation is paid as excess baggage. Transportation of animals in passenger compartments is prohibited, except for the carriage of guide dogs.
In exceptional cases, the airline may allow the carriage of an animal in the passenger cabin, if the weight of the animal together with the container is not more than 5 kg.
As a rule, the airline does not provide containers for the transport of animals. You will need to pre-purchase a container that meets the requirements of the airline.
It is prohibited to transport animals and birds to the UK in the form of baggage in a passenger aircraft.
Wild animals and birds are transported only in cargo aircraft.
